Sad News - Bruce Allen
It is with much sadness that we advise that Bruce Allen has passed away.
Bruce joined the Browns Bay Bowling some 40 years ago and has been a familiar figure both on and off the greens. He was a well known face at club nights, sitting with his regular group by the main entrance way.
Bruce was born in Linwood, Christchurch. He was the only boy of seven children. He was brought up on a farm and on leaving school took up a butcher's apprenticeship in Christchurch.
Not long after marrying Jocelyn Murray, they shifted to Torbay where they brought up their three children - Murray, Richard and Marie.
After having played golf for some years, Bruce took up the game of bowls where he enjoyed his time on the greens and socially. Outside of this, his big passion and hobby was a love of gardening.
Bruce will be sadly missed. Our condolences go to Jos and family.
A private family service is being held for Bruce on Wednesday.
