At its monthly meeting earlier this week, the Browns Bay Bowling Club board adopted two new policies and agreed to an amendment to one of its existing club regulations relating to Dress Standards for Centre, Regional and National events. The following is a summary of the changes:

Smoking Policy and Designated Smoking Areas
The Browns Bay Bowling Club is committed to meeting the requirements of the Smokefree Environments Act (1990) and to protect the health and safety of all those who use the club’s facilities. This policy has been introduced to ensure the club meets its obligations under the Act and also under the current Health & Safety Regulations. A range of areas have been provided where smoking can take place so as not to cause distress or discomfort to non-smoking members, participants or visitors. All smokers are asked to adhere to this policy when on club property.

Dress Standards for Centre, Regional and National Events
There was an anomaly in the club regulations regarding dress for Centre, Regional and National events. Clause 12.1 of the regulations required that all players representing the club in Centre, Regional or National events must wear matching club uniforms or whites, although the board may approve changes to this particularly if it is needed to accommodate any sponsorship requests. In the conditions of play for BNH, Regional and National events, the conditions commonly state: Players in a team will be in their club uniforms, whites or matching team clothing. This means the same coloured pants/skirts and shirts. Logos that conflict with the event sponsor will not be permitted.
To ensure the wording in the club regulations are consistent with what the Centre and National bodies apply to events, the last sentence in the Club Regulations 12.1 dealing with Dress Code for Play has been amended to read that: “All players representing the club in Centre, Regional or National events, must comply with the relevant clothing/dress conditions set down by the event organiser and/or controlling body. “
